BS 5306 is the British Standard code of practice relating to the
		selection and positioning of portable fire extinguishers.It’s been a
		long time coming (twelve years in fact!), but BSI have just published the
		new revision of this document: BS 5306-8:2012.
		The absence of frequent revision and the relatively few (albeit
		significant) changes are perhaps the sign of a good, mature standard.
		Nonetheless, a revision has been overdue to address issues including:

			- the changes in relevant legislation such as:

			- changes in the use of powder extinguishers;

			- clarification on the requirements for class A hazards;

			- changes in the recommendations for class B, C and F hazards;

			- travel distances revised;

			- changes to the recommendations on signs;

			- advice on reducing vandalism added;

		BS 5306:2012
		supersedes BS 5306:2000 which is withdrawn.
