This page aims to provide
the reader with the reasons why our
service
often requires the provision of replacement pull tags and other
anti-tamper indicators.
As mentioned in the service page,
our BS EN ISO 9001:2015 certification certifies that we undertake the
service to the standards laid down in
BS 5306-3 - the main standard
applicable to the servicing of portable fire extinguishers.
The ‘basic service’
specified therein requires the checking of all applicable parts to ensure
good working order. Where applicable, this includes the removal of safety
pins, and BS 5306-3 compliant
pull-tags and other anti-tamper indicators. This is as per BS 5306-3,
Annex D (normative), table D.2, action number 11 of
the Standard.
For a multitude of obvious reasons including that of safety, the
inherent purpose of the anti-tamper indicators is to securely indicate
when a unit has been tampered with in certain ways. This secure indication
is more often than not achieved through breakage. It therefore follows
that the actions detailed above will usually require the replacement
anti-tamper indicators. This is also as per BS 5306-3, Annex D
(normative), table D.2, action number 17 of
the Standard.
