BS 7937:2000 has now been superseded, withdrawn and replaced by
BS EN 3-7:2004+A1:2007.
BS 7937:2000 was the BSI British Standards that relates to the “Specification for portable fire extinguishers for use on cooking oil fires (class F)”.
The contents of the standard are technical and designed predominantly for extinguisher manufacturers.
Key features of the standard are the recognition of the hazard, the requirement for specialist
extinguishing mediums and the need for design to minimise the risks to the operator.
The British Standards are covered by copyright and are not available freely. However, these can be purchased at British Standard Online or alternatively, some libraries may carry copies of the more common standards.
