This page aims to provide
the reader with a brief overview of our portable fire extinguisher
maintenance services.
As mentioned in the About Us section in
greater detail, our BS EN ISO
9001 certification in combination with our
BAFE Certification for “the
Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers” to
BAFE schemes SP101
and ST104 certifies that the maintenance we provide is
undertaken to the standards laid down in
BS 5306-3 - the main standard applicable to the maintenance of
portable fire extinguishers.
The checks and work carried out during properly undertaken scheduled
maintenance visits
are quite detailed and the reader is referred to this
document for the detail as to what
is involved in the equipment’s maintenance. Our
BS EN ISO 9001 certification by a
UKAS-accredited independent third
party shows that we do this work properly.
Please note that during our scheduled maintenance visit (usually an annual
visit) we provide the ‘basic service’ and, where so required by
BS 5306-3, the
‘extended service’ for each
extinguisher. Additionally, we also conduct a
site
extinguisher-survey to ensure the level of cover at your site is appropriate.
In addition to the scheduled maintenance by a competent person, The
legal duty holder should also undertake two layers of checks:
This is not an inspection that we
normally conduct as it is can be undertaken by the user. however, we can
also provide this service if so requested.
Just like with most other services, additional parts and labour are
frequently required. Details as to the reasons that apply to the most
common types are provided in the links to the section pages to the right.
Unlike the vast majority of services, however, the work required is
very precisely laid down in the British
Standard. Therefore, our BS EN ISO 9001:2015 certification by a UKAS-accredited
independent third party, along with the other factors laid down in the
About Us section should provide you with complete
peace of mind that we do the job properly and do no more than required.
