Fire-Safety Sales Professional.
Full time, permanent.
Highly competitive package consisting of basic salary made up with generous commission scheme
and other benefits as set out here.
Based from home, located as per role-specific details and typically based
near good regional road networks. The employee will ‘cover’ a geographic
territory as defined by the Company, and subject to change. Currently,
the territory has a ‘weighted-centre’ located where we seek the
candidate. The employee will typically be the only Fire-Safety Sales
Professional to ‘cover’ this territory.
It is clearly in everyone’s interest for Fire-Safety Sales Professionals to keep working
in their own territories wherever practicable. However, whilst not usually a large part of the job, there may be occasions
when it is necessary to work away from home for periods of time.
Particular attention is drawn to the early stages of the
induction process during
which the employee may have to be based away from home Monday to Friday, although rarely
for more than three weeks.
To work within the Anderstore Group in developing, expanding
and providing its
high quality fire protection business.
The employee will contribute by:
- expanding the customer base by gaining new small and medium
sized business customers;
- establishing identifying new opportunities and securing ongoing business
relationships with them;
- maintaining and developing relationships with existing key accounts;
- otherwise developing the Group’s business and expanding its customer base;
and
- being accountable for, and ensuring effective self-management,
planning and delivery of, the designated workload.
Sales & Business Development
- Be responsible for the selling the Group’s
key product/service areas:
- Helping to expand the Group’s key customer base of small
to medium sized businesses which are typically a mix of most types
of commercial premises (offices, shops, factories, warehouses,
sleeping accommodation, places of assembly, healthcare premises,
transport premises and facilities, animal premises and facilities,
etc.).
- Consistent with the above, identifying suitable prospective
customers from a number of sources including:
- using a good geographical
awareness of areas densely populated with suitable prospective
customers (for subsequent
face-to-face ‘foot-canvassing’);
- using third-party data and tools to identify other areas densely populated
with suitable prospective customers (for subsequent face-to-face ‘foot-canvassing’);
- using third-party data to identify prospective customers suitable for
cold-calling for appointments;
- Seeking referrals to other prospective customers from the Group’s existing customers;
- Securing face-to-face meetings on a daily to weekly basis with
the above prospective customers by a
number of methods including:
- face-to-face ‘foot-canvassing’; and
- ‘cold-calling’ for appointments;
- Successfully closing at a high percentage of those meetings and
securing ongoing business relationships via minimum-term contractual
agreements;
- Dependant upon the needs of the Company, a smaller part of the role
may also be to assist in the maintenance, management and development of the Group’s larger-customer
business.
- Dependant upon the candidates skills, experience and
qualifications:
- undertake site surveys and plan works in accordance with the
applicable standards at our customers’, and prospective customers’,
sites in respect of our key product/service
area as above; and
- deliver Staff Training courses
to our customers;
- Maximising the sales opportunities arising from the above
surveys;
- Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers
via meetings, telephone calls, email, etc.;
- Cross-selling of the Group’s key
products and services wherever
possible and appropriate;
- Gaining a clear understanding of our customers and prospective
customers and their
requirements; and
- Further the Group’s reputation and trade-standing through
professionalism, good-practice and ethical selling techniques.
Team Working
- To communicate and work effectively within the Anderstore team;
- To positively contribute in Anderstore team development
initiatives and operations. Whether by mentoring, leading, listening
or by just being involved;
- To provide mentorship and peer-support to other team members
where appropriate;
- Dependant upon the strengths of the employee and the needs of
the Company, to provide, or to assist in, training our other members
of staff in other geographic areas on:
- general sales techniques;
- obtaining referrals and lead generation;
- ‘cold calling’ and ‘foot canvassing’; and
- cross-selling;
- Communicating/Liaising with appropriate staff re
time-management;
- Participate in the development and implementation of team
objectives in line with the Company policy;
- To work alongside other senior members of the team in aiming to
ensure that service delivery is of high quality and is evaluated
appropriately; and
- To participate in, and facilitate, the training of colleagues
and learners.
Self-Management
- To organise their workload on an appropriate basis in an optimal
manner maximising productive time, and minimising avoidable wastage
such as unproductive time, unnecessary travel, costs, etc.;
- To manage their own working hours, keep appropriate records and
answer any queries as may be required to help ensure that the
employee visibly fulfils his or her own working time obligations;
- To achieve key performance indicator (KPI) objectives set by the
Company;
- To closely measure and monitor the employee’s own performance
and to work toward achieving their own goals along with any other
goals or objectives of the Company;
- To maintain a smart and professional appearance, to wear the
Company uniform where so required and to adhere to any appearance
policies at all times; and
- To properly, efficiently and safely look after, manage and
organise any Company property provided to, or used by, the employee
in the course of his job. Most notably, this includes any
depots or Company premises, any company vehicle, tools and stock.
Communication
- Communicate professionally, effectively and empathically with
customers and prospective customers. To deliver on promises and be
an ambassador for the Company;
- To ensure neat, accurate and properly completed documentation of
customer and other records and that appropriate customer and other
information is communicated to the Company; and
- To ensure confidentiality.
Quality
- To work to, and to maintain an up-to-date awareness of relevant
British Standards, legislation governmental guidance, trade news,
etc.;
- Depending upon the employee’s strengths and the Group’s
reasonable needs at any given time, to hold or obtain any required qualifications
(e.g.
BAFE courses “Unit 1 Unit 1 - Fire Detection Design”, “Unit 2 &
3 - Advanced Detection Design & Advanced Alarm Design”, “Servicing &
maintenance of portable fire extinguishers”) and any subsequent
periodic refresher courses;

Attend technical training courses, seminars and other events as may
be required by the Company in order to help maintain technical
skills and product awareness;
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the service through
yearly reports, user surveys, audits, etc.;
- To work within the Company’s quality auditing and management
policies, guidelines, protocols and procedures;
- Participate in effective supervision;
- To maintain own professional development; and
- Promote the Company’s commitment to quality.
General
- To promptly and properly assist the office and management in
their queries or reasonable requests for assistance (including in
the settling of queries, investigations, etc., assistance in the
collection of outstanding accounts, including the making of witness
statements and the attending of court hearings where so required);
- Perform such other duties and exercise such powers and functions
as may from time to time be reasonably assigned to or vested in him
or her;
- Any other duties or responsibilities as per contract;
- Unless otherwise specified in any subsequent contract, the
normal hours of work are on-site between 8.30a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on
Mondays to Fridays, with one hour for lunch subject to the Company’s
rules and policies, including any relating to flexibility;
- Some working outside of normal hours may also be necessary as
set out above and, for example, to cover the specific requirements
of the Group’s customers such as those requiring evening and weekend
access, etc.; and
- All employees should understand that it is their personal

requirements e.g. Health and Safety; Equal Opportunities;
Confidentiality; etc.
This position is line-managed by the nominated
manager.
Additionally, the position has responsibility to the Company’s head
office management.
